☾ the synopsis

Nick and Charlie are best friends. Nick knows Charlie’s gay, and Charlie is sure that Nick isn’t.
But love works in surprising ways, and Nick is discovering all kinds of things about his friends, his family … and himself.
Heartstopper is about friendship, loyalty and mental illness. It encompasses all the small stories of Nick and Charlie’s lives that together make up something larger, which speaks to all of us.

The cat’s out of the bag – Charlie LIKES Nick.
And Nick? He’s still confused about how he’s supposed to feel – a full on gay crisis, picture perfect.
As Nick and Charlie are trying to figure out who they are as people and what they are to each other, Charlie has to deal with the fact that his friends don’t think he should be getting his hopes up with Nick, and Nick’s friends have plenty of bad things to say about Charlie.

The story is set in Truham, Great Britain.

☾ what i liked about this book

I loved everything about this book!
It was just what I was hoping for, incredibly diverse, and in-your-face accurate about the experience with coming out, being outed and discovering who you are without compromising your situation.
The art style is adorable and the graphic novel is a really quick read,. perfect for those times when you just want a little bit of romance to cheer you up.

☾ what i didn’t like about this book

There was nothing I disliked about this book!

☾ should you read this book?

If you are a fan of Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston or Simon Vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda and Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli, the Heartstopper graphic novels are the perfect read for you!
