when I did this tag last year, I did it on my YouTube channel – which is no longer active.
So this year, I am doing it on my blog.
Best Book You’ve Read So Far In 2020?
I’m going to give it to King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo.
It was really full of twists and turns, and Nikolai is such a humorous character. Also this is the book that finally helped me warm up to Zoya.
Best Sequel You’ve Read In 2020?
The only sequel I’ve read this year is A Gathering of Shadows by V. E. Schwab, the second book in the Shades of Magic Series.
So that one.
New Release You Haven’t Read Yet But Want To?
A very recent release would be Cinderella is Dead by Kalynn Bayron – it came out four days ago (at the point at which I am typing this) and it sounds really good.
Other than that, Docile by K. M. Szpara.
Unfortunately, I am going to have to give it to A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness – it’s a dark academia, and most of the people I talked to really loved it, but I just could not vibe with the main character, Diana, and I also think that it could have been way shorter. I didn’t give it that low of a rating though. I just expected way more.
Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston.
I don’t really read hyped books, much less romance, but I need every teen over 19 to pick this book up.
Favorite New Author?
Casey McQuiston. I can’t wait to read more of her books and ease myself back into the genre of contemporary romance.
Newest Fictional Crush?
HRH Henry George Edward James Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor from – you guessed it – Red White & Royal Blue. I don’t wanna be that girl who fetishizes gay men (and I refuse to) but my gods, that man is what all British men should be.
Book That Made You Cry?
A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab.
Kell and Rhy’s relationship makes my sibling heart so happy but gods, I am emotional about these two.
Book That Made You Happy?
King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo.
If you know me, and if you’ve read that book, you probably know why. But I can’t put it here because it’s a huge spoiler.
Favorite Book To Movie Adaptation You Saw This Year?
P. S. I Still Love You!
Favorite Review You’ve Written This Year?
I haven’t written a proper review for the most of the year so far so I can’t say.
Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought So Far This Year?
I recently got the Illumicrate Edition of Meena Van Praag’s The Sister’s Grimm – secondhand from a lovely friend on bookstagram. It comes with gold foiling on a naked cover and black sprayed edges!
What Books Do You Need To Read By The End Of The Year?
The Montague Siblings duology by Mackenzi Lee – apparently she’s problematic because she defaced people’s books, but I own both books and so I will read them.
Also The Song of Achilles by Madeleine Miller.
